This pest is considered the most dangerous for all varieties of onions, but most of all onion fly likes onions. Flies have ash gray, on the belly clearly visible longitudinal brownish line. This wrecker hibernates as a pupa, closed in a red-brown shiny cocoon, its length is about 6-7 millimeters. Flies of flies begin in the first decade of May and lasts just over a month.

Flies eat floral nectar, but lay eggs in the soil near the bulbs or in the bulbs themselves. After the bulb is destroyed, the larvae of the onion fly pass to the neighboring plant. Damaged plants can be identified by yellowed leaves and rotten bulbs.

Onion secretly

This pest of onions is a beetle whose body length reaches 3 millimeters, it has a black, oval-shaped, white-scaled body, the head turns into a proboscis curved to the bottom. This pest prefers onions, shallots and onions. Onion weevil wakes up at the end of April, first it feeds the remaining onion in the field, then goes on to early crops. Beetles gnaw through small leaves in the leaves, but sometimes the holes reach large sizes and the leaf mass dries up.

Females lay eggs in the holes of the feathers of onions. Larvae, depending on the temperature and humidity conditions are born through 7-16 days, they feed on leaf tissues up to three weeks of age, and then leave in the soil to a depth of up to 6 centimeters where pupate. The second generation of onion secretivists appears in the last decade of June.
