Landing of Astilbe

AstilbaProbably, no gardener will remain indifferent to such a beautiful plant as astilba. It is quite unpretentious and can be grown in the front garden under the windows of the house, and in large gardens, and used as a natural curb. Love this plant and landscape designers who use the plant to create colorful flower spots in the overall composition of landscape design.

Before planting Astilba in spring, it is necessary first to choose the optimal place for this plant. This plant is very shade-loving and therefore it feels comfortable in the shade of bushes and trees. Although there are varieties that feel cozy in an open place under direct sunlight, it is true that the period of flowering in such astilbe is much smaller than their counterparts, comfortably located in a shady place.

Propagation of astilba by propagation and division of the bush, these measures are carried out either in early spring or in September-October. At division it is not necessary to dig out a bush completely, it is enough simply to cut off a kidney and with a segment of a rhizome.

As for the land, it is better to give preference to heavy loamy soil, because when planting an astilbe in such a soil, it turns out to be more lush and blooms noticeably longer. It will be just fine if you plant a landing site in advance with compost, peat or manure. For one square meter of soil, you need about a bucket of compost or overgrown manure. Planting of Astilba in spring is carried out in the prepared soil, it needs to be digged, the roots of the sow, wheatgrass and other weeds removed.

Plant the plant in the holes, with a depth of about 25 cm and the same width in which add humus, a little ash and a gram twenty five mineral fertilizers. All this mass is mixed and watered abundantly.

Caring for Astilba does not take a lot of time from you. In the summer, almost maintenance is reduced to weeding and watering. The need for moisture in the plant is quite high, and at the end of summer and early autumn the volume of water should be increased, this helps form long beautiful inflorescences. Watering plants should be twice a day, early morning and evening. In addition, it is very useful for the plant to sprinkle a little fertile soil every year, since the rhizome of these flowers grows upward. It is also necessary from time to time to clean the bushes from the faded inflorescences.

Also, do not neglect and mulch after planting - mulch protects the upper part of the plant from overheating and prevents the spread of weeds.

Astilba is practically not susceptible to disease and there are no such pests that we could completely destroy this plant, its only enemy is a weed, which can strongly inhibit plants and prevent it from developing.

The term of a normal life cycle for Astilba is no more than five years, then the plant is no longer able to give normal and healthy inflorescences, so after four to five years the plant should be transplanted. You can transplant the plant at any time if you transplant it with an earthen lump in which the root system is located.
