Planting Rosemary

Planting RosemaryAt the moment, rosemary has found application in cooking, folk medicine and even magic. This evergreen plant in appearance similar to pine has in its composition a lot of useful components. During the flowering period in the second year of the vegetative period, white, pink or blue flowers begin to appear on the culture, giving off a pleasant smell, so the plant can be used to decorate its own infield. Even growing rosemary on your windowsill is not so difficult, if you adhere to some simple rules.

It should be noted that our culture can reproduce by rooted cuttings or seeds. When planting rosemary with seeds, the plant should be grown from the end of winter, when a sufficient amount of daylight hours is established. Sowing of grains should be carried out in well-humidified and rich with useful substances, aerated soil. At home, a rosemary planting substrate is prepared on the basis of turf ground, river sand, humus and peat with a ratio of 2 components: 1: 1: 1.

Planting of rosemary seeds is carried out in special containers or individual containers. In this case, the seeds only scatter on the surface of the moist soil. Next, the container is covered with a polyethylene film or pieces of glass and installed in a room with a temperature regime of 5-8 degrees for three weeks. After this, the seedlings are moved to a warm room on a sunny window sill. Rosemary shoots usually appear one month after sowing.

In the future, the culture will need a sufficient amount of heat and moisture. The temperature regime of rosemary cultivation is 18-22 degree. Irrigation is carried out with a periodicity of three days, and warm water is not poured from the watering can, so as not to dilute the root system of the plant, and introduce into the soil by spraying. After the appearance of two or three real leaves on rosemary, it is dived into separate containers.

Planting rosemary with petioles is considered to be the easiest way to multiply a plant. Young shoots from 5-centimeter length are cut from the plant in the autumn period. Now we need to clean the stem from the lower leaves and place it in the root-forming solution. After the appearance of rootlets, the plants are moved to moist sand or specially prepared soil and installed in a warm room. Approximately three weeks later, when the cuttings finally take root, they are transplanted into separate containers or to a bed.
